22nd October Observed as ‘Printers’ Unity Day’ In India

26 October 2022: In this digital era, especially when rates of raw material and GST are touching new horizon, on the other hand, demand for the commercial printing is decreasing globally, the only success mantras are to work in close cooperation and develop greater networking. ‘United We Stand, Divided We Fall’ the phrase that can be traced back to some 2,600 years and is continuously being quoted by numerous visionaries and leaders from time to time. This is true for the printer community too.

In a country as diverse as India and with highest number of printing companies (250,000) in the world, an event like ‘Printers Unity Day’ holds special significance. It aims to unite the printers belonging to different categories, regions, size and working with different technologies. On 22 October, Printers of the country pinned the Badges written ‘PROUD TO BE A PRINTER’ to show unity, solidarity and their strength.

Speaking about the purpose and necessity of the event, Parveen Aggarwal, President of the Offset Printers Association said that “the Printers Unity Day provided an opportunity to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of the printers of the country to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, networking and strength of the printing industry.”

He further said that 22nd October every year is observed as ‘Printers Ekta Diwas’ (Printers Unity Day) on an International Scale. National and international level networking seminars were hold on this day. Peter Deckker, President Sri Lanka Association of Printers, appreciated the idea of celebrating the Printers Unity Day, a needy attitude that needs to be nurtured across the world. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Kamal Mohan Chopra, President World Print & Communication Forum (WPCF) said, “Let’s be together to help each other, to show that we are really ‘Proud Printers’ try to hold hands rather pulling legs, jointly we can succeed and conquer any challenge”
