Akil Contractor Pens Urdu Shaayari Book – Titled ‘Talabgaar – Asfaar-E-Zindagi’

25 April 2025: An urdu shaayari book penned by noted screen printing industry personality Akil Contractor has just been published. Sharing the details about his latest creation, the Founder & Chief Innovator of Print Dynamic, Mumbai, who is also the Editor of Ink News Magazine, said, “The Book is titled ‘Talabgaar – Asfaar-E-Zindagi’ which translated means ‘The Seeker – The Journey of My Life.’ I started writing it in July 2019 and it took 4 years to be completed. Talabgaar is my takhallus or pen name for urdu poetry.”

A multi-talented individual, Akil Contractor started writing English poetry in 1985 and in 1986 published two volumes of poetry titled ‘Spirit song’ (verses), followed by ‘After Kalinga and other poems’ which were published in a few magazines. He founded the Poetry Circle, Mumbai, the very first community or society for English writing poets along with Menka Shivdasani and Nitin Mukkadam to encourage English poets to gather and share their work.

In July 2019, he started self-learning Urdu and writing Urdu poems in ‘sher-shayari’ tradition. At Print Dynamic, he satisfies the creative needs of clients with new inks. Poetry, on the other hand, helps him come to terms with life, expressing himself at an emotional level.

Born in Mumbai in 1957, Akil Contractor is an alumnus of Christ Church School Byculla and Bombay Scottish Orphanage High School, Mahim. A well-known manufacturer of special application printing inks and coatings under his brand name Print Dynamic, he has several innovations and awards including recognition by Limca Book of Records For his technical achievements. His hobbies include vedic astrology, numismatics, philately, reading and writing.
