Grasim Unveils Raysileco: Sustainable, Traceable Yarn
11 August 2025: Grasim Industries’ Cellulosic Fashion Yarn business has introduced Raysileco, a cutting-edge product under the established Raysil brand. This innovation features sustainable Viscose Filament Yarn (VFY) that is fully traceable to its origin, produced from wood pulp responsibly sourced from certified, sustainably managed forests. Raysileco reflects strong environmental responsibility and delivers complete transparency across the supply chain.
The new product was officially launched at the 7th edition of Yarn Expo in Surat, organized by The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Speaking at the launch, Satyaki Ghosh, CEO of Cellulosic Fashion Yarn business, said “Raysileco embodies the spirit of innovation with robust sustainability credentials and advanced traceability technologies. This launch reflects our drive to evolve with dynamic market needs and delivering value where performance, responsibility, and trust converge.”
He further added “This product not only reinforces our commitment to sustainability and end-to-end traceability but also empowers our value chain partners with confidence to verify and trust every filament they use.”
Raysileco signifies a key advancement in yarn manufacturing, embedding both molecular-level and technology-enabled traceability directly into the yarn. This innovation enables complete visibility into the product’s lifecycle, empowering partners with transparency, confidence, and seamless verification from production to retail. A core feature of Raysileco is the use of both physical and digital traceability technologies, ensuring reliability at each stage. As the fashion industry increases its call for transparency, Raysileco enables brands and stakeholders to authenticate products and verify responsible sourcing across the value chain.
Raysileco is manufactured at Grasim’s production facilities in Kalyan (Maharashtra) and Veraval (Gujarat), showcasing the company’s ongoing investment in smart, scalable and technology-led manufacturing.
Ghosh further explained “The traceability mechanism employs both physical markers and digital technologies. Our partnership with TextileGenesis™ enables secure, blockchain-based traceability for sustainable Viscose Filament Yarn. Using unique digital tokens called Fibercoins™, we track the yarn’s journey from source to store, creating a tamper-proof, real-time digital record for brands to monitor.”
Raysil remains the only global brand offering three distinct Viscose Filament Yarn technologies:
– Pot Spun Yarn (PSY)
– Continuous Spun Yarn (CSY)
– Spool Spun Yarn (SSY)
With the launch of Raysileco, Grasim’s Cellulosic Fashion Yarn business is raising the bar for traceability and responsible manufacturing in the global fashion industry.
