eBay Joins American Circular Textiles to Boost Circular Fashion
12 December 2025: American Circular Textiles (AMCIRC) has expanded its growing coalition with the addition of eBay Inc., one of the world’s most influential commerce platforms and a long-standing champion of recommerce. The announcement, made in Washington, DC, marks a meaningful step in advancing nationwide efforts to scale textile circularity through policy leadership, industry collaboration and public education.
AMCIRC now brings together more than 30 brands, resale platforms, recyclers, manufacturers and innovators working collectively to accelerate circular systems across the U.S. fashion and textile landscape. eBay’s membership reinforces this momentum. Celebrating three decades of recommerce, the company has played a defining role in extending product life cycles, reducing waste and creating economic opportunity for global buyers and sellers – values that align directly with AMCIRC’s mission.
The secondhand apparel market continues to surge, a trend highlighted in eBay’s 2025 Recommerce Report, which found that over half of consumers believe second-hand purchases help them express personal style. eBay has strengthened its leadership in circular fashion through several recent initiatives, including the Circular Fashion Fund, which supports start-ups and innovators advancing repair, resale and next-generation recycling solutions.
In 2025, eBay also became the official pre-loved partner of Condé Nast, cementing its position as the go-to destination for authenticated, pre-loved branded fashion featured across Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair, Wired, Architectural Digest, Teen Vogue, and Glamour. The multi-year collaboration is accelerating mainstream adoption of pre-loved fashion and elevating circularity in global style culture.
“30 years ago, eBay defined online buying and selling, which means it has had circularity built into its business model from day one,” said Rachel Kibbe, CEO & Founder of American Circular Textiles. “As a household name in the circular economy, we could not be more excited to welcome a voice as organic and influential as eBay to our ongoing efforts to advance the circular economy in the United States.”
Founded in 2022, AMCIRC has quickly established itself as the country’s leading platform for circular fashion and textile policy, giving industry leaders a unified forum to shape market development. Its recent efforts include private-sector leadership in G7 circular design initiatives, support for the bipartisan Recommerce Caucus, multi-state EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) work, and consultation on the Americas Act, which would create the first federal incentives for circular fashion if passed.
