Ruchi Kumari of Government Polytechnic, Patna Crowned Top Print Student (East Zone) in the 7th Edition of Manoj B. Mehta Print Olympiad 2026
26 March 2026: The East Zone Regional Finale of the 7th Edition of the Manoj B. Mehta Print Olympiad 2026 – India’s biggest and only talent hunt of its kind in the printing industry was successfully held on 19 March 2026 at Government Polytechnic, Gulzarbagh, Patna-7. After a keenly contested final round, Ms. Ruchi Kumari, a bright student of Government Polytechnic, Patna, was declared the Top Print Student of the East Zone. She has earned the prestigious honour of representing the East Zone at National Finale to be held during AIP at Shanghai, China, in October 2026. The grand event, hosted by Government Polytechnic, Gulzarbagh, Patna-7, witnessed enthusiastic participation of industry leaders, academia and printing technology students across the East Zone.
In his welcome speech, Beer Bahadur Singh, HOD In-charge, Department of Printing Technology, GPP-7, said “It is an honour for GP Patna to organise an event of such stature. It is for the first time ever that the Print Olympiad is hosted in the state of Bihar.” Prof. Kamal Mohan Chopra, Project Chairman, speaking about OPA and the Print Olympiad, said “At OPA we are determined to serve the printing and packaging sector. It is a moment of immense pride and joy for me to stand before you on this historic occasion. As the founder of Print Olympiad since 2014, I have seen this platform evolve into India’s premier talent hunt for printing and packaging students. Organised under the Offset Printers Association and fuelled by our ‘Print Chetna’ movement’.”
Guest of Honour Dr. Ram Nath Choudhary, Principal, Government Polytechnic, Patna-7, stated “As host institution, we are proud to organise this prestigious event. The level of competition and enthusiasm of our students have exceeded all expectations. This Olympiad is a gamechanger for printing education in the East Zone.” Guest of Honour Deepak Walia, MD, Manroland Sheeted India, remarked: “It is inspiring to see such talent emerging from the East Zone. This Olympiad identifies the best young minds and prepares them for global challenges in print manufacturing.”
Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, Vice Chancellor, MGCU, Motihari, said “The Manoj B. Mehta Print Olympiad is an outstanding platform that bridges academic excellence and industry needs. The performance of the three toppers – Shubham Kumar, Ruchi Kumari and Harshit Chaturvedi – reflects the bright future of printing technology in this region.” He blessed the students, formally declared the East Zone Finale open and presented certificates and mementos to the host institutions.
Five eminent jury members – A. K. Sinha, Prof. Diptendu Choudhary, Hemant Kumar Mishra, Ashutosh Upadhyay and Anish Gupta – were introduced and felicitated. Prof. Madura Mahajan presented the Summary of Round 1. The Chief Guest then awarded Participation Certificates to eligible students and Merit Certificates to the Top Three Print Students – Shubham Kumar, Ruchi Kumari and Harshit Chaturvedi. Dr. TKS Lakshmi Priya delivered the instructions and rules for the Finale.
This was followed by felicitation of East Zone Coordinators. Ashwani Gupta, Co-Chairman, Print Olympiad, in his concluding remarks, said “The East Zone Finale has once again reinforced the Olympiad’s reputation as the world’s one and only competition of its kind.” He also announced the Print Star Competition for D. Voc. and Diploma students for the ‘T Prasad Memorial Gold Medal’ and 25,000 cash prize.
Thereafter, Ms. Ruchi Kumari was declared the Top Print Student of East Zone. The Winning Certificate was presented jointly by the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Prof. Kamal Mohan Chopra. The winner gave her Topper’s remarks. Anubhava Shiksharthi delivered the Vote of Thanks. The Olympiad continues to serve as a unique platform for identifying and nurturing young talent in printing technology, reinforcing its status as “the world’s one and only competition of its kind.”
