Saurabh Newaskar, MD, San Printech, addresses ‘The Future of Pack 2026’
27 May 2026: The Future of Pack 2026 retreat, hosted by Unam Vitam Consulting & Ventures (P) Ltd. at the Aravali Marriott Resort, Delhi NCR on May 8-9, 2026, brought together different leading brands, packaging experts and technology partners for two days of collaborative brainstorming on the future of packaging and print innovation.
San Printech and its Managing Director, Saurabh Newaskar, shared insights on evolving coating and application technologies across different packaging application. The discussion highlighted various possible applications and technologies focusing on rigid plastics, glass containers, cans, printed electronics, labels, shrink sleeves, etc. However, the rapidly emerging segment of flexible electronics presents an entirely different landscape with unique technical requirements, material behaviors and application challenges.
It was emphasized that flexible electronics demand highly customised and application-specific solutions depending on functionality, substrate compatibility and end-use performance. The session underlined how innovation in coatings, inks and functional materials will play a critical role in enabling next-generation packaging and electronics applications.
The retreat was designed as an open and interactive platform where brand owners, converters and solution providers engaged in candid discussions around sustainability, speed-to-market, packaging technologies, compliance, automation and consumer engagement.
A major focus of the discussions was how packaging has evolved beyond its traditional protective role to become a critical brand communication and consumer engagement tool. Participants highlighted how technologies such as QR codes, RFID, NFC and connected packaging are enabling brands to create smarter and more interactive experiences while improving traceability and product authentication. Sustainability remained central to nearly every conversation.
Brand owners discussed the growing pressure to balance aesthetics, speed, functionality and cost while also designing packaging systems that support recyclability and circularity. Topics such as mono-material structures, lightweight packaging, sustainable laminates and environmentally responsible label solutions were widely explored.
For the screen printing and label industry, the retreat highlighted how decoration technologies continue to play an important role in premiumization and shelf differentiation.
Technology providers also showcased how automation and AI are reshaping packaging workflows. AI-driven artwork management, automated compliance checks and real-time mock-up visualization tools demonstrated how brands can accelerate packaging development while improving accuracy and regulatory compliance.
