WEP SEA 2026 Sets AI and Sustainability Agenda in Jakarta
06 August 2026: WEP SEA 2026 will bring packaging and printing companies to Jakarta International Expo from 27 to 29 August 2026, with an organiser-announced programme covering artificial intelligence, sustainable production, short-run printing and regional business development.
The World Expo of Packaging Industry – Southeast Asia is organised by RX China in strategic partnership with the World Packaging Organisation, according to the event website. It will be co-located with Paper Chain, Pack+ and Bakery ASEAN, linking paper manufacturing and packaging converting with automation and end-use applications.
Conference programme targets regional change
An organiser-issued release says the three-day event will feature more than 20 conferences, workshops and networking activities. The Southeast Asia Packaging Industry Conference 2026 is expected to open the programme with discussions on sustainability requirements, supply-chain changes, regional cooperation and investment opportunities.
Other announced sessions will cover digital printing for short production runs and environmental, social and governance initiatives in food and beverage packaging. These subjects reflect the practical challenges facing converters as customers seek greater flexibility, lower material use and clearer environmental accountability.
AI and automation move into focus
The Next-Generation Smart Packaging Solutions Forum is scheduled for 28 August. Organisers say its sessions will examine intelligent prepress automation, workflow management and automated imposition, with an emphasis on reducing waste, production time and operating costs.
A separate session led by Indonesian specialists is expected to address halal packaging labelling and certification. The Printerpreneur Talk Show will discuss cost control through lightweight corrugated and honeycomb paper materials, as well as print-on-demand production models.
Practical workshop and business meetings
A workshop on the “Top Ten Printing Challenges in FMCG Packaging” will use production cases to examine defects from artwork preparation to post-press finishing. Its “Packaging Detective” exercises are designed to help participants identify prepress risks, registration errors, die-cutting problems and weaknesses in on-site quality control.
The programme announced for 29 August also includes a Business Networking Cocktail Reception for exhibitors, buyers, converters, technology providers, brand owners and industry associations. Organisers have separately promoted a PACT Alliance Indonesia Golf Invitational for senior industry participants.
WEP SEA 2026 will cover corrugated packaging, folding cartons, digital printing, speciality paper, food packaging and converting equipment.
