Bangladesh to Host 37th IAF World Fashion Convention in November 2022

28 November 2021: The expo will be jointly organized by IAF and BGMEA on November 13-16, 2022. The International Apparel Federation (IAF) and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) will jointly organize on Global Fashion Expo 2022 on November 13-16, 2022 in Dhaka. The BGMEA team had recently attended the 36th World Fashion Convention organized by IAF at Antwerp in Belgium. They also attended the IAF Board Meeting.

The venue announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the convention,” said Faruque Hassan, President, BGMEA. It is a matter of great joy and pride for us to host the 37th IAF World Fashion Convention next year on the 50th founding anniversary of the IAF. BGMEA will organise ‘Made in Bangladesh Week’ to uphold the image of the country in the wake of World Fashion Convention”, said Hassan, adding, “We hope that the third Dhaka Apparel Summit, fashion festival, exposition and some award programs will be held during the week-long event to showcase the capabilities and achievements of the garment sector to the world and discuss the prospects and roadmap of the future.”

Through this Global Fashion Expo, we will be able to give the important message to the world that we are branding the industry as well as working towards sustainable industrialization by turning around from the pandemic. BGMEA will make a road map so that it can be branded ‘Made in Bangladesh’ across the globe,” said BGMEA President, suggesting that the programme should portray better image of the country before the buyers that will eventually fetch more export orders.

IAF is the leading organization of world-renowned brands, manufacturers and associations having members from 40 countries and these include garment manufacturers and brands. The 36th IAF World Fashion Convention and Euratex’s 9th European Textile & Apparel Convention were successfully conducted on 8 and 9 November. The IAF and EURATEX conventions brought together, under Belgian ‘Covid Safe’ conditions, well over 200 apparel and textile industry professionals, particularly from a large number of EU countries, a large delegation from Turkey, a significant delegation from Bangladesh as well. The theme of the IAF Convention is ‘Transition of the Global Fashion System’ with transition being the operative word.
