
Facebook announces grant for small business across Indian metros
19 September 2020: Recently Facebook announced that it will offer grants totalling USD4.3 million (Rs.32 crore) to more than 3,000 small businesses across five Indian cities, including Delhi and Mumbai, to help them grow their operations amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Facebook is in the business of small business with 160 million businesses using its apps every month. Nearly one business for every 55 people on the planet, are using Facebook, Instagram, Messenger or WhatsApp to reach customers. And for every one of those 160 million there are people earning livelihoods and customers using products or services.
So, Facebook management believes that a little financial support can go a long way in reviving small businesses affected by the ongoing COVID-19. The social media giant is offering USD 100 million in cash grants and ad credits to small businesses in 30 countries to cope with the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
