Originally the company was established in 1910 under the name Imperial Tobacco Company of India Limited. The Company now stands rechristened ‘ITC Limited,’ During his Chairmanship, Deveshwar was instrumental in transforming the mere cigarette making company into a highly diversified FMCG conglomerate. Today, besides cigars and cigarettes, ITC has strong presence in education & stationery, paper, paper boards & packaging, hospitality, IT, Retailing (branded apparels), agarbattis and match boxes, agri business, personal care, foods, etc
And, with such diverse range of products, surely Indian Screen printing industry has great connection with ITC. Many of the leading graphics screen printers supply them wide range of printed stuff such as display boards for shops etc; in addition, some of ITC’s stationery products such as Classmate brand scales and geometry sets, erasers, etc. have the impression of screen printing. It may be noted that ITC has its own printing press for packaging and notebook printing etc. It may also be noted that ITC is also a leading player in Safety Matches (match box) and agarbattis. While match box has the impression of screen printing (on trigger strip), some of the premium agarbatti boxes are exclusively screen printed. And most of ITC’s products requiring packaging surely have some amount of value addition done by screen printing.
