Matsui introduces a series of Water based inks for textile printing

25 January 2021: Matsui International Co., Japan, has introduced a series of water based inks for textile screen printing. According to the company, the water based inks are somewhat 30-40% less expensive than what printers are using.

Matsui has been producing colors and inks for over 30 years. Founded in 1923, in Kyoto, Japan, Matsui have had a colorful history in the creation of water based inks. It was Kenji Matsui who started a paint business in Kyoto, Japan. In 1950’s, they transitioned into the production of pigments and resins for printing. The crayons and paint materials they started out with dyed into Matsui’s new focus on textile printing. In the early 2000’s they decided that the majority of their ink should be water based as the management believed in eco-friendly products.

The company is known for pioneering environmental impact by producing water-based screen printing inks in the U.S. market. As international supply chains and price competitions become more popular, the company examines the status quo on the current economic and environmental issues regarding to sustainability. One of the new projects the company has started is producing environmental friendly sanitizers at its Headquarter in Japan and products.
