Michèle Joly Passes Away at 72 Years of Age at Le Mans, France

05 July 2023: Noted screen printing industry personality Michèle Joly passed away on 21st June 2023 at the age of 72 years at Le Mans, France. She had worked with Fimor, France from 1977 to 2016 for 39 years.

Commenting on her passing away, Manuel Zuckerman, General Manager, Fimor SA, France, said: It is with great sadness that the we have learned the passing of our former colleague and friend of always Ms Michele Joly. Michèle had been with Fimor since its creation in 1977 and retired only a few years ago, remaining a shareholder. She had been a pillar in the company’s initial success in the screen printing supply market thanks to her initial connection with a community of artists and printmakers. Her sensitivity to arts never left her.

She was an avid traveler and to some degree an adventurer, opening markets into many Asian countries in the 80s and 90s when international travel was not as organized as it is today especially for a single woman. She became a well-known figure in the screen printing world following her participation to so many FESPA, DRUPA, CSGIA and other events in Europe to Asia or Africa. Her commitment to customer service and her genuine interest in other people’s culture made her more than a business contact to many of her counterparts who kept in touch with her beyond her retirement, he added.

Michèle continued to attend our company events until recently and we will miss her off-beat humor tinted by her Belgian origins as well as her incredible moral strength that kept her fighting a medical condition for almost 20 years.

She is survived by her mother, a brother, a son and a recently born granddaughter that made her very proud in her last months. Our thoughts are with her family and we will make sure to pass along any kind words from anyone who remember her in the professional community.

She was taking care of the exports/ overseas market and was regularly travelling extensively worldwide. With her zeal to explore new markets, Fimor for the first time participated in the Screen Print India Expo on Mumbai in the year 2002.

She is considered an ‘Iron Lady’ in screen printing industry travelling to many new markets/ countries in the years 1980s where travelling was not easy and she was full on energy and enthusiasm. She was instrumental in making the Fimor Squegee a ‘benchmark’ and popular brand worldwide. She was always jolly, helpful and happy with all possible situations to face.

Today Fimor is present in globally at .. Le Mans (Headquarters), Cheshire, Connecticut, USA & Foshan, China.

The screen printing industry globally misses an ardent supporter and she will always remain in our heart. May her soul rest in peace.
