Now Braille Signage printing possible on Mutoh XpertJet XpertJet 661UF
30 November 2020: Since taking delivery of the Mutoh XpertJet 661UF LED UV printer with CADlink DF Designer Pro and Mutoh Digital Factory RIP, SB Skiltagerd, based in Iceland, are now producing Braille signage significantly faster.
According to Mutoh the compact table top A2+ flatbed UV LED XPJ-661UF printer fits into any regular office, home based business or small retail environment. The direct to object printer offers a print area of 483 mm x 594 mm and can be setup in either CMYK or CMYK + White + Varnish. White inks will enable you to print on dark coloured or clear substrates. Special added value finishing like spot varnish or even stunning special effects such as special structures or embossing are possible with our dedicated varnish inks.
SB Skiltagerd came from screen printing, evolving to digital printing with a Mutoh ValueJet 1604 for banners, stickers, car wraps and general indoor and outdoor signage. The company was also an early provider of Braille signage (largely for export to Norway) and with the vision to grow and dominate this market, (CEO) Smari Birnir Smarason and his wife Katrin Osk Hannesdottir knew they needed to be able to produce Braille signage more cost-effectively and with a faster turnaround.
Before purchasing the Mutoh XpertJet 661UF, SB Skiltagerd was making Braille signage with an engraver – a long, labour-intensive process that inherently made the finished product expensive. It was also difficult to produce very small Braille characters which was a limiting factor to business growth.
The XpertJet 661UF digital inkjet printer is an addition to Mutoh’s existing DTO printer models, the popular ValueJet 426UF and 626UF. Developed & manufactured in Japan, the new XpertJet desktop flatbed printers feature various product enhancements.
The XPJ-661UF printers will respond to the increasing demand for added value personalised prints and bespoke small-lot production of commercial and industrial print applications. Typical applications encompass prints on phone covers, personalised gifts, photo products, promotional items such as pens, lighters & USB sticks, souvenirs, awards, small signs, small series production or prototyping of packaging samples, decorative tiles, etc.
