OBITUARY: Kamal Kumar Tiwari, co-founder of Kumar Sales Centre, Indore Passes Away
28 May 2023: It is with profound sadness that the screen print industry received the news of Kamal Kumar Tiwari, co-founder of Kumar Sales Centre, Indore, having passed away on September 28, 2022 at the age of 79 years. He was often described or referred to as the ‘father of the screen printing industry in Central India Region.’ He played an active role in the formation of the ‘Indore Screen Printing Association (ISPA).’
Kamal Kumar Tiwari and his brother Nand Kumar Tiwari had started the company 55 years ago and worked very hard over the decades to develop the business and make it into one of the leading distributors of screen, offset, garment printing inks and related materials.
When they had started out, at that time screen printing was not too much developed as a segment. The duo conducted various technical seminars to create awareness among the printers of the surrounding region in the vicinity of Indore and within the city itself. Their efforts helped a lot to develop the industry in MP. Later on, Nand Kumar Tiwari started his own manufacturing business of screen printing inks under the ‘Globe’ brand.
Now the retail business is being taken care by two sons; Shailendra and Anand who are now taking the legacy forward. Shailendra, says, “Our father was quite active in the day-to-day business right up to the last day. He was very gentle and sober and always ready to guide newcomers as well sharing his knowledge.”
The passing of an industry veteran is indeed a reason for the entire fraternity to mourn his departure. When it comes to one who has been considered to be a father figure, the grief is truly magnified. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.
