WWI Students Shine with Bold Designs at Bombay Times Fashion Week

15 October 2025: Students from Whistling Woods International (WWI)’s School of Fashion & Costume Design (SFCD) stole the spotlight at Bombay Times Fashion Week on October 3rd, presenting innovative, narrative-driven collections that pushed the boundaries of creative expression.

Semester 3 students explored conceptual designs rooted in storytelling and symbolism, while Semester 5 students highlighted themes of identity, transformation and cultural expression through experimental fashion. The collections ranged from poetic homages to Mumbai’s layered soul to futuristic silhouettes and cosmic tailoring, turning garments into philosophical statements and fashion into a visual art form.

One standout design captured Mumbai’s essence with rain-inspired drapes featuring agate crystal shimmer and bold, futuristic color-blocking structures. Another presentation explored the interplay of primal energy and architectural precision, with commanding silhouettes and textured surfaces embodying an untamed spirit.

“What our students showcased tonight is not just design – it’s vision,” said Meghna Ghai Puri, President, WWI. “When young talent is nurtured with the right guidance and freedom, they create fashion that transcends boundaries.”

The runway opened with actor and alumna Rajshri Deshpande in an ethereal tulle-layered dress inspired by the student fashion film A Room of Remembering. She was joined by Sakshi from the Nabhangan Foundation, advocating rural sustainability and women’s empowerment. Actor and content creator Rehaan Roy closed the show as the showstopper, wearing a silk brocade jacket that fused traditional motifs with modern sculptural tailoring.

The finale was an emotional celebration, featuring all models, student designers, Meghna Ghai Puri, and Jewellyn Alvares, HOD of Fashion & Costume Design, embodying WWI’s commitment to collaboration, creativity and excellence.
