Strengthening Dyeing and Colouring: SDC Launches Bangladesh Board

22 May 2025: The Society for Dyers & Colourists (SDC) recently established its Bangladesh Region Board to strengthen the local dyeing and colouring sector. The board formation was finalized during a virtual meeting attended by Clare Moore, Marketing Manager of SDC UK and Yogesh Gaikwad, Director of SDC International (UK). Discussions centered on SDC’s mission, membership growth strategies in Bangladesh and initiatives aimed at enhancing the society’s influence within the textile industry.

The newly formed board includes prominent industry and academic leaders: Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Acting Vice-Chancellor of BUFT, was appointed Chairman; Dr. Mohammad Tajul Islam, Associate Professor at AUST, serves as Secretary; and Afsana Ferdousi, Country Coordinator for the SDC International Design Competition in Bangladesh and a Bronze Medallist, takes on the role of Treasurer. Md. Amanur Rahman, Managing Director of Dysin Group, was elected as Chief Adviser.

General members comprise Prof. Dr. Engr. Mohammed Rubaiyat Chowdhury (Dean, Faculty of Apparel Studies, BUFT), Abdullah Al Mahmud (Marketing GM, Dysin Group), Sarmily Sarker (Head, Fashion Studies, BUFT), Md. Abdullahil Mahmud (GM Quality Assurance, A&E Bangladesh Ltd), Md. Fakhrul Islam (SDC UK nominee) and Ms. Muna Naida Sheikh (Design Manager, FCI (BD) Ltd).

Md. Amanur Rahman highlighted the board’s commitment to sharing knowledge and advancing the dyeing community, while Chairman Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan expressed gratitude for the support and optimism for growing membership and fostering collaboration.
