Durst and TUM Venture Labs Partner on Robotics and AI
13 July 2026: Durst Group and TUM Venture Labs have announced a multi-year collaboration focused on robotics, artificial intelligence and automation for industrial production.
The partnership makes Durst a Platinum Partner in the TUM Venture Labs ecosystem. According to Durst, it is also the first Italian partner in the network. The collaboration will be centred on the Robotics/AI Lab in Munich, which supports start-ups and teams working across robotics, AI, communication technologies, embedded systems and related deep-tech fields.

TUM Venture Labs is a joint initiative of the Technical University of Munich and UnternehmerTUM. Its Robotics/AI Lab supports early-stage teams with mentoring, facilities, tools and access to a deep-tech community. For Durst, the collaboration creates a direct link with founders, researchers, students and industry partners working on autonomous systems, human-robot interaction, simulation, embedded AI, physical AI and digital twins.
Durst said the partnership forms part of its 90th anniversary programme and supports its move from machine-focused engineering towards connected production systems. The company’s Kyveris platform is designed to connect machines, software, data and artificial intelligence. Its AuRo-Layer extends this concept to the physical production floor, covering robotics, material flow and increasingly autonomous workflows.
“Isolated machines are yesterday’s model. Production is becoming connected, learning and autonomous,” said Christoph Gamper, CEO and Co-Owner of Durst Group. “With Kyveris, we are building the system for this.”
Dr. Philipp Gerbert, CEO of TUM Venture Labs, said robotics and AI show their value when they address real industrial challenges. He said the partnership combines technology, entrepreneurship and practical application for new automation solutions around digital production.
The collaboration will include expert exchanges, industry challenges and innovation formats. Durst is expected to contribute production-related use cases where robotics, automation, AI-based process control and physical workflows meet. The company says the results could support not only printing, but also adjacent industrial applications.
