Toyota Kirloskar Motor Signs an MoU with Wipro 3D to Establish Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence at TTTI

13 July 2026: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has signed an MoU with Wipro 3D to set up an additive manufacturing Centre of Excellence at the Toyota Technical Training Institute in Bidadi, near Bengaluru. The collaboration is aimed at giving TTTI students hands-on exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies and their use in real production environments.

The MoU signing was attended by senior executives from both companies. Toyota Kirloskar Motor was represented by Hiroki Ando, Vice President – HR & Services, and Lakshmikeshava Shastry, Vice President, Information Technology, Digital & Cyber Security. Wipro 3D was represented by Pratik Kumar, CEO, Wipro Infrastructure Engineering, along with senior Wipro 3D officials.

The proposed CoE will serve as a skill-development and applied-learning platform for students. Wipro 3D will provide technical expertise, structured training modules and workforce upskilling support. The programme will include exposure to Kaizen practices, smart systems, digital manufacturing and resource optimisation.

Toyota said the initiative will also support rapid prototyping, production aids, lightweight and optimised components, and on-demand manufacturing of parts. These applications can help reduce lead times, support new product development and improve operational flexibility in manufacturing environments.

G. Shankara, Chief Strategy Officer, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the collaboration supports Toyota’s focus on developing people in new-age automotive technologies and contributes to the Government of India’s Skill India Mission.

Pratik Kumar, CEO of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering and Managing Director of Wipro Enterprises, said the MoU provides a platform to co-create solutions and advance additive manufacturing capabilities.

TTTI was established in 2007 and offers a three-year residential training programme in trades including automobile assembly, welding, painting and mechatronics. The institute has also been linked with the Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing programme and is recognised by automotive skill-development bodies.

For the automotive sector, the move is notable because additive manufacturing is increasingly used for design trials, tooling support, low-volume components and faster product-development cycles. By bringing the technology into vocational training, the partners aim to narrow the gap between classroom learning and shop-floor requirements.
