CosmoFlex Coating Targets Ink Adhesion on BOPP and PET Films

29 September 2026: Cosmo Speciality Chemicals has announced CosmoFlex coating for flexible packaging and label films, according to a launch brief supplied on 28 September 2026. The range targets ink adhesion on BOPP and PET substrates. 

The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cosmo First Limited. Its announcement describes CosmoFlex as a ready-to-use primer intended to help printed films retain ink through handling and demanding storage conditions.

Which films does CosmoFlex coating target?

The supplied announcement identifies two grades: CosmoFlex CB01 for BOPP films and CosmoFlex CP02 for PET films. Cosmo Speciality Chemicals already lists print-receptive coatings for BOPP and PET. Its published description explains that these coatings help substrates accept and retain ink.

Durability also features in related substrate developments, including Cosmo Films’ FlexoTuff synthetic paper for tags and labels. 

Printing compatibility and cold-storage claims

The launch brief lists water-based and UV flexographic printing, UV offset, thermal transfer, screen printing and letterpress among the intended applications. The company’s existing PET printable coating page lists the same methods.

For BOPP, the official catalogue names its clear printable coating Optima. It describes water-based chemistry, compatibility with several printing processes and resistance to hot and cold water. 

The announcement also reports ink-anchorage, rub-resistance and print-durability testing, including cold-water and deep-freezer exposure. 

Printers comparing coated materials can also review CSP Dualcoat synthetic paper, another separate Cosmo Films product offering several printing options. 

What should converters confirm before trials?

Request the technical and safety data sheets for the exact grade, alongside recommended coating weight, drying conditions and substrate preparation. For chilled or frozen applications, ask for the test temperature, duration and acceptance criteria, then assess the intended film-and-ink combination under the actual storage conditions.

Cosmo Speciality Chemicals’ published coatings portfolio includes heat-seal, oil-and-grease-resistant and printable coatings. CosmoFlex’s announced positioning fits that portfolio, but buyers still need grade-specific evidence before treating it as qualified for a particular packaging or label job.
