Gujarat Pitches Navsari Textile Park to South Korea’s Youngone

26 October 2026: Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi invited South Korea’s Youngone Corporation to explore manufacturing investments and joint ventures during talks in Daegu on 22 October 2026. The Gujarat textile investment pitch centred on the planned PM MITRA park in Navsari and possible partnerships in performance fabrics, technical textiles and machinery.

According to ANI’s account of the meeting, Sanghavi met senior Youngone representatives, including President Jaeyong Park. He also invited the company to visit Gujarat’s textile clusters. The outreach follows Gujarat’s wider promotion of its textile manufacturing base, discussed in Screen Print India’s coverage of the Rajkot textile sector conference.

Gujarat textile investment pitch centres on Navsari

The Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation’s project page identifies the site as a greenfield textile and apparel cluster at Vansi in Navsari district. Its tentative masterplan lists a total area of 1,142 acres, including 686.28 acres of allottable land.

GIDC lists planned infrastructure including water and power supplies, common effluent treatment, sewage treatment, plug-and-play units and logistics facilities. These are project provisions, not confirmation that every facility is operational.

Sanghavi presented the park as a location for spinning, weaving, processing, technical textiles and garment manufacturing. GIDC places Hazira Port approximately 65 km away and Surat Airport approximately 55 km away, supporting the delegation’s argument that the site offers access to export logistics.

Why Youngone matters to the proposal

Youngone’s manufacturing portfolio includes performance apparel, outerwear, workwear, footwear and textile production. The company already lists garment manufacturing in Telangana, so the Gujarat invitation concerns a potential additional location rather than its first entry into India.

In June 2026 reporting by The Korea Herald, Park said Youngone employed more than 100,000 people worldwide at the end of 2025. That global workforce figure describes the company’s scale. At the Daegu discussions, Sanghavi said Gujarat accounted for approximately one-third of India’s man-made fibre production and nearly 65% of its denim production.

Roundtable explores machinery and performance fabrics

The delegation also attended the Gujarat–Korea Textile Industry Cooperation Roundtable at the Korea Textile Development Institute (KTDI). ANI’s roundtable report describes discussions on technical exchanges, textile machinery, fabric manufacturing and potential joint ventures. Roundtable attracted approximately 28 delegates, including representatives from Youngone Corporation, KTDI, eight textile machinery manufacturers and four fabric manufacturing companies.

Sanghavi emphasised that South Korea’s technological expertise, combined with Gujarat’s manufacturing capabilities and entrepreneurial strengths, could create significant opportunities for both countries. The delegation also visited KTDI’s research, pilot production and testing facilities to explore technological collaboration.

Mamata Verma, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Mines Department, presented Gujarat’s investment opportunities, infrastructure and industrial policies.

The initiative reflects Gujarat’s efforts to attract international investment, strengthen technology partnerships and position the state as a competitive global hub for advanced textile and apparel manufacturing.
