Karnataka CM Yediyurappa kick starts India’s first Toy Mfg. cluster project in Koppal

11 January 2021: BS Yediyurappa, Karnataka Chief Minister recently laid the foundation stone for the country’s first toy manufacturing cluster in Koppal district’s Bhanapur village. A 400 acre land has been allocated to establish plug-and-play manufacturing units at a cost of $545 million. The manufacturing campus is being promoted by Aequs SEZ Pvt. Ltd. in partnership with the Karnataka government.

The cluster brings together an ecosystem of players across the value stream of Toy manufacturing right from mold manufacturers and raw material suppliers to those providing services such as Injection & Blow Molding, Paint Making, Supplements, Printed Circuit Boards (PCB), Printing & Packaging.

Koppal in Karnataka has a rich heritage in toy manufacturing. With a self-sustained ecosystem, Koppal Toy Cluster is poised to cater to all infrastructure and operational support requirements of the Toy, plastic, and electronic manufacturing industry. The cluster offers features and benefits unmatched elsewhere in India, with ready-to-use facilities, support services, skill centers and requisite workforce to match manufacturing requirements.

The Koppal Toy Cluster has been designed to house an entire Toy Manufacturing Ecosystem to support toy manufacturers, suppliers, and vendors across the toy value chain. The Toy cluster also brings together in-campus business support services, including social infrastructure and residential accommodation, to support the workforce.

From the ease of setting up a manufacturing unit with the theme of ‘Concept to Commission of the Plant’ to becoming an integral part of a value chain within the Toy Manufacturing Ecosystem, Koppal Toy Cluster offers it all.

The Koppal Toy Cluster project is India’s first Toy manufacturing ecosystem as part of Government of Karnataka’s Toy Cluster initiative. The toy manufacturing cluster will contain over 100 units with a potential to generate 25,000 to 30,000 direct jobs and over 1 lakh jobs indirectly. Reportedly, the state government signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with six companies which will drive an initial investment of over $200 million.
