Knit Show 2026: The ‘Must Attend’ Show For Textile Industry Beckons

02 July 2026: Krishna, Director, Knit Show Trade Exposition Shares the Preparations for the Upcoming Knit Show 2026 Edition to be held at Tirupur from August 21-23.

Knit Show, Tirupur has been held since year 2000. How has it reflected the evolution and growth of the industry ?

Knit Show was launched in the year 2000 with a simple objective – to bring the entire garment and textile value chain under one roof and provide manufacturers with direct access to technology, materials, suppliers and industry knowledge. The idea evolved from our long association with the industry through the publication of the garment and textile directory “City Leaves”, which has been serving the industry since 1993. While the directory connected buyers and suppliers through information, we felt the industry needed a platform where people could physically experience products, witness live demonstrations, interact directly with suppliers and evaluate technologies through touch and feel. This vision led to the birth of Knit Show.

What began in 2000 with around 100 standard exhibition booths has today grown into one of India’s largest garment-textile sourcing platforms, spanning nearly 2 lakh square feet of exhibition space. Over the past two and a half decades, the exhibition has grown alongside Tirupur’s transformation from a knitwear manufacturing hub into one of the world’s leading apparel export clusters.

The evolution of Knit Show mirrors the evolution of the industry itself. In its early years, the exhibition was largely focused on conventional garment machinery, sewing technologies and basic production requirements. As the industry expanded and modernized, Knit Show witnessed the emergence of computerized machinery, automation, CAD/CAM systems, embroidery technologies, advanced knitting solutions, digital printing technologies, sustainable processing methods, innovative fabrics, trims and accessories.

One of the most remarkable transformations has been in the knitting and textile printing segments. The industry has evolved from conventional Indian-built machines and manual processes to highly sophisticated imported technologies, automated knitting systems, digital textile printing, DTF, DTG, sublimation, transfer technologies, speciality inks and sustainable printing solutions. Knit Show has consistently showcased these developments, helping manufacturers understand, compare and adopt new technologies.

Over the years, many exhibitors have chosen Knit Show as the preferred platform to launch new products, introduce innovative technologies and strengthen their presence in the South Indian market. Through our continuous marketing efforts across Tirupur and other major textile and garment clusters in India, the exhibition has become a trusted meeting point for technology providers and end users.

Today, Knit Show represents a complete sourcing ecosystem where visitors can explore machinery, fabrics, accessories, dyes, chemicals, printing technologies, software, automation solutions and allied services. The exhibition has become a reflection of how both the industry and Tirupur itself have progressed towards innovation, productivity, quality, sustainability and global competitiveness.

Which are the USPs that set Knit Show apart and make it a must to participate and attend ?

One of the biggest strengths of Knit Show is its ability to bring together the complete textile and apparel manufacturing ecosystem under one roof. The exhibition serves not only the knitwear industry but also the woven garment sector, home textile manufacturers, leather product manufacturers, silk producers and numerous allied industries spread across South India. This gives exhibitors access to one of the most diverse and dynamic manufacturing regions in the country.

Knit Show offers a comprehensive sourcing experience across six dedicated exhibition halls covering knitting, printing, sewing, embroidery, needle loom technologies, garment accessories, trims, fabrics, dyes, chemicals, software solutions, automation systems and allied services. This enables visitors to evaluate multiple solutions, compare technologies and meet suppliers from different segments.

For the textile printing industry in particular, Knit Show has established itself as one of India’s largest sourcing platforms for printing technologies and consumables. The exhibition showcases a comprehensive range of screen printing equipment, digital textile printing solutions, DTF technologies, sublimation systems, heat transfer products, speciality inks, pigments, chemicals, films, powders, mesh, emulsions, squeegees and printing accessories. The concentration of printing-related exhibitors and products under one roof makes Knit Show a highly productive platform for printers and garment manufacturers.

Over the years, Knit Show has earned the confidence of the industry and attracts business-focused visitors who come with clear sourcing and investment objectives. Factory owners, production managers, merchandisers, sourcing teams, printers, knitters, exporters and entrepreneurs attend the exhibition to identify new technologies, discover suppliers, improve productivity and explore growth opportunities.

The exhibition has also become a preferred launch platform for many companies introducing new machinery, innovative products and advanced technologies to the South Indian market. Visitors recognize Knit Show as a place where they can experience live demonstrations, compare competing technologies side-by-side and make informed business decisions.

Over the past 25 years, Knit Show has built a reputation as a trusted industry platform where innovation meets business opportunity. For many companies, participation is no longer an option but a strategic necessity, while for visitors it remains one of the most efficient ways to source products, evaluate technologies and stay connected with industry developments. For many visitors, Knit Show is not merely an exhibition but an annual sourcing exercise where they evaluate investments, identify suppliers and plan technology upgrades for the year ahead.

How do you see the future scope for this industry segment and in what way does Knit Show contribute towards or facilitate the development story ?

The future of textile printing is extremely promising. The demand for shorter production runs, customization, fashion flexibility, faster turnaround times and sustainable manufacturing is driving rapid adoption of new printing technologies.

Digital textile printing, DTF, speciality printing effects, performance inks, environmentally responsible chemicals and automated production systems are expected to play an increasingly important role in garment manufacturing. At the same time, brands are demanding better quality, consistency, traceability and sustainability throughout the supply chain. As fashion cycles become shorter and customization becomes the norm, textile printing technologies will increasingly influence product differentiation, speed-to-market and manufacturing efficiency, making this segment one of the key growth drivers of the apparel industry.

Beyond printing, the broader garment and textile industry is also entering an exciting phase of growth. Government initiatives, infrastructure development, Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, and India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with key global markets are expected to enhance the competitiveness of Indian textile and apparel exports. These developments are creating new opportunities for manufacturers to expand capacity and modernize operations.

Another encouraging trend is the emergence of start-ups and the growing participation of second-generation entrepreneurs who are bringing fresh perspectives, technology-driven thinking and a greater willingness to invest in innovation. Across knitting, weaving, garment manufacturing, embroidery, printing, processing, home textiles and allied sectors, businesses are increasingly focusing on automation, digitization, sustainability and value addition.

Knit Show acts as an accelerator for this transformation. By bringing together technology providers and end users on a common platform, the exhibition enables knowledge transfer, technology adoption and business collaboration.

The exhibition also serves as an important networking platform where suppliers receive direct market feedback and manufacturers gain exposure to innovations that can improve productivity, quality and competitiveness. The interaction between machinery manufacturers, printing technology providers, chemical companies, software developers, fabric suppliers, accessory manufacturers and garment producers creates a dynamic environment for business growth and industry advancement.

India’s Garment Hub Tirupur ….

Tirupur, renowned as the garment hub of India, has been instrumental in driving the country’s textile industry for over three decades, producing 90% of India’s cotton knitwear exports. The city generates significant foreign exchange and provides employment to a large number of workers, with over 50,000 garment manufacturing and allied industries producing textiles worth billions per month, with cotton knitwear being the highest contributor. Tirupur has also carved a niche for itself in the global market, attracting some of the world’s largest brands and retailers, leading to the development of several industrial parks in and around the city. Tirupur drives an estimated Rs.60,000 crore to 1 trillion in annual trade value (combining exports and domestic markets) and supports over 600,000 jobs across a massive decentralized network. Known as the “Dollar City” because the world heavily relies on it for clothing, Tirupur’s textile industry is highly localized and boasts distinct characteristics that keep it globally competitive.
