MIPT Pune Seminar Explores Career Opportunities in Printing

12 October 2026: PVG’s Maharashtra Institute of Printing Technology (MIPT), Pune, held a seminar on career opportunities in printing on 5 October 2026. Guest speaker Aniruddha Walimbe addressed first-year diploma and direct second-year students to introduce career paths and industry expectations in the printing and packaging sector.

The institute’s announcement said the session covered emerging trends and future possibilities, alongside guidance on students’ professional choices. It brought an industry perspective into the classroom at an early stage of their diploma studies, when students are still learning how different printing processes relate to possible careers.

Career opportunities in printing: what students learned

Walimbe discussed the range of career paths available in printing and packaging and the expectations students may encounter in the industry. MIPT described the interaction as an opportunity to connect students with industry and encourage them to think about their professional future. The distinction matters for a technical diploma: learning a printing process and understanding how a business uses it are different parts of a student’s preparation.

Technical skills behind printing careers

MIPT’s printing technology programme provides context for that discussion. Its published learning outcomes cover digital imaging software, quality inspections and the management of print operations, including costing. The department also lists offset, gravure, flexography, screen printing and digital printing among the methods used to reproduce images. Its laboratory facilities cover prepress, substrates and inks, screen printing and print finishing. That breadth gives students a way to compare processes and see where different technical skills fit.

Beyond operating equipment, the department’s programme objectives include solving problems independently and in teams, communicating effectively at work and following professional ethics.

The seminar also emphasised the importance of practical knowledge, technical competence, adaptability and continuous learning in building successful careers in the printing and packaging sectors.

Prof. Shinde highlighted that such industry-academia interactions play an important role in bridging the gap between classroom education and practical industry requirements, while motivating students to explore promising professional careers.

PVG’s Maharashtra Institute of Printing Technology, Pune, is a reputed technical education institution dedicated to developing skilled professionals through industry-oriented education, practical training and exposure to modern printing technologies.

The seminar reflected MIPT’s continued commitment to strengthening industry engagement and preparing the next generation of printing professionals for future challenges and opportunities.
