Ola Electric to manufacturer Electric Vehicles at Bargur, Tamilnadu with Rs.2.4K Investment
12 April 2021: Ola Electric Mobility, which will open an electric two-wheeler manufacturing unit at SIPCOT Park in Bargur (Krishnagiri District), with an investment of Rs.2,354 crore. Once operational, it would generate employment for 2,182 persons. The MoU was signed by Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Group CEO, Ola and Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami
After inking the deal, Aggarwal said this would be one of the world’s largest scooter factories catering for domestic and international markets. The factory, which will initially have an annual capacity of 2 million units, will produce Ola’s upcoming range of two-wheeler products, starting with Ola’s electric scooter.
Tamilnadu plant will begin production with Ola’s Etergo AppScooter, which was acquired earlier. AppScooter features a removable battery that’s easy to port and charge anywhere. Intelligent teach based smart features bring together a modern user experience for electric scooters. Once underway, Ola will introduce many new-age two wheeler product line-ups. This could be a big step in helping the electric two wheeler market establish itself in a bigger way.
