Amazon and TEXPROCIL Partner to Support Cotton Textile Exports
02 October 2026: Amazon India and the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL) signed an agreement at Bharat Tex 2026 in New Delhi to help manufacturers sell internationally through Amazon Global Selling. Reported on 15 July 2026, the partnership focuses on training and seller support for cotton textile exports, rather than guaranteed overseas orders.
What the cotton textile exports agreement covers
According to the announcement carried by Apparel Views, the partners will run a structured awareness and seller-enablement programme. It will help cotton textile manufacturers, exporters and TEXPROCIL members understand overseas demand, cross-border trade requirements and selling through Amazon’s international marketplaces.
Planned activities include online and offline awareness sessions, workshops, educational resources and continuing guidance. Nominated TEXPROCIL representatives will also receive training, while offline seller communities will give participants a way to learn from other exporters.
The agreement extends the council’s work in promoting Indian cotton textiles overseas. Screen Print India’s coverage of TEXPROCIL’s 70th anniversary provides background on that export-promotion role.
How TEXPROCIL and Amazon will divide the work
TEXPROCIL will identify high-potential exporters, connect manufacturers with prospective online sellers and distribute Amazon Global Selling resources through its communication channels. Amazon will contribute cross-border e-commerce insights as the partners examine possible central and state policy support.
Dr. Siddhartha Rajagopal, whose Executive Director role the TEXPROCIL website confirms, attended the signing. His comments, reproduced in the trade coverage, described e-commerce as an opportunity for manufacturers to reach consumers directly, build brands and reduce dependence on traditional export channels.
Home textiles remain the commercial focus
Srinidhi Kalvapudi, identified in the announcement as Head of Amazon Global Selling India, pointed to demand for bedding, bath linen and home furnishings across Amazon’s international marketplaces. That is Amazon’s assessment of its market opportunity, not an independently measured forecast for participating exporters.
The announcement also refers to interest in product quality, authenticity and traceability. For exporters considering those issues, the separate Kasturi Cotton India agreement explains TEXPROCIL’s earlier work with the Cotton Corporation of India on cotton branding, traceability and certification. It is distinct from the Amazon partnership.
For a manufacturer, the practical opportunity is access to guidance and another sales channel. The MoU itself does not demonstrate that any participating business has already secured customers or increased export revenue.
Export ambitions and the wider sector
Kalvapudi linked the collaboration to Amazon’s goal of enabling USD80 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports from India by 2030. As reported by the Indian Textile Journal, this is a broader Amazon export ambition.
The announcement places the agreement against reported growth of 2.1% in India’s textile exports, including handicrafts, in FY 2025-26. Screen Print India’s textile export figures give the broader sector context; they do not measure the outcome of this initiative.
