ASML at SEMICON India 2026: Lithography and Tata Fab Support

The equipment supplier’s involvement came as it prepared to support Tata Electronics’ Dholera semiconductor fab, connecting India’s manufacturing plans with lithography technology and local skills development.

ASML, one of the world’s leading semiconductor equipment manufacturing companies, is showcasing its holistic lithography solutions at SEMICON India and reaffirms its support for customers and collaboration with ecosystem partners as India’s semiconductor industry continues to develop.

What does holistic lithography do?

Lithography creates circuit patterns on silicon wafers. ASML describes its holistic lithography portfolio as a combination of lithography systems, computational modelling, optical metrology and electron-beam inspection. These tools work together to help chipmakers meet patterning requirements and control manufacturing processes.

The practical distinction is between printing a pattern and checking that the process produces the intended result consistently. Software helps model and correct patterning effects, while measurement and inspection tools provide information about the manufactured features and defects. ASML presents the combined approach as a way to improve chipmaking performance and cost, not simply as a standalone exposure machine. ASML also includes customer support in its published offering, reflecting the need to keep systems running after installation rather than treating delivery as the end of the work.

How will ASML support Tata’s Dholera fab?

ASML and Tata Electronics announced their memorandum of understanding on May 16, 2026. The agreement covers support for establishing and ramping up Tata’s upcoming 300 mm semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat, using ASML’s lithography tools and solutions.

ASML’s May announcement described construction as progressing. It did not announce commercial production, and the partnership should not be read as confirmation that the fab has completed its manufacturing ramp-up.
