Epson Makes Additional Investment in Gosan Tech to Expand Inkjet Manufacturing for Perovskite Solar Cells

24 July 2026: Seiko Epson Corporation and Epson X Investment Corporation have made an additional investment in South Korean startup Gosan Tech Co., Ltd. through the EP-GB L.P. joint fund.

Epson said the investment will support wider use of inkjet manufacturing systems for perovskite solar-cell modules.

Founded in 2015, Gosan Tech develops and sells inkjet systems for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. Its work in display production led to ink-supply, pressure-control and simulation systems designed to improve droplet consistency and placement.

The company now works across three areas: information technology, including OLED displays and direct part marking; perovskite solar-cell production; and biomedical applications such as drug deposition, tissue engineering and diagnostics.

Perovskite solar cells are thin, light and flexible. Unlike conventional silicon cells, they can be made using printing methods that may reduce manufacturing costs. Gosan Tech produces both perovskite modules and the inkjet systems used to make them. Its equipment allows control over film thickness, material placement and pattern design while reducing material waste.

Epson first invested in Gosan Tech in April 2025 through its printhead sales business. Epson and its South Korean sales and service subsidiary, Epson Korea Co., Ltd., have since supplied industrial printheads to the startup.

Gosan Tech says it has increased the amount of electricity its perovskite modules produce from sunlight, expanded capacity for its manufacturing systems and secured more volume orders from new customers.

The investment also supports Epson’s ENGINEERED FUTURE 2035 plan, which includes applying inkjet technology in electronics, biotechnology and solar-cell manufacturing.

Epson X Investment is Epson’s corporate venture capital arm. It manages the EP-GB L.P. fund with Global Brain Corporation, an independent venture capital firm.
