Color-Logic Certifies ImagePrint UV RIP for Metallic Printing
08 October 2026: Color-Logic announced that it had certified ColorByte’s ImagePrint UV RIP for its metallic colour system. The approval gives compatible UV inkjet print providers a tested workflow for metallic colours and decorative effects, with integrated file handling and white-ink control.
According to the Color-Logic certification announcement, ColorByte submitted the official Color-Logic test form printed on a Fluid Color UV inkjet printer. The test used white and CMYK inks on metallic stock. Color-Logic reported that the metallic colours, decorative effects and embellishments reproduced correctly.
What the ImagePrint UV RIP certification covers
The certification concerns the RIP’s ability to process and reproduce Color-Logic files. Color-Logic’s certified RIP directory now lists ImagePrint UV and describes its Color-Logic file handling as automated.
Why white-ink control matters on metallic stock
White ink determines how much of a reflective substrate remains visible beneath the design. By controlling that coverage, printers can reveal or suppress the metallic surface in different areas of the artwork. Colour reproduction therefore depends on the white layer as well as the CMYK image.
ImagePrint UV includes white-ink linearisation, which Color-Logic says helps reproduce its colours and effects across the file’s tonal range. Mark Geeves, Color-Logic’s Director of Sales and Marketing, identified that control and the dedicated production interface as the main benefits of the integration.

A dedicated interface for supplied PDFs
ColorByte has built a Color-Logic interface into the RIP. Color-Logic says operators can import the supplied PDF and print without special Color-Logic setup procedures or manual RIP configuration.
This addresses file preparation, but the announcement provides no measured reductions in ink use, substrate waste or production time.

Metallic effects and raised texture are separate capabilities
ColorByte’s ImagePrint UV product brochure also describes height-map generation for textured 2.5D printing, automated control of spot-colour channels and print layers, and applications including raised logos and tactile signage.
Our article on five-layer UV printing examines layered white, colour and gloss output on a separate printer platform; it does not establish ImagePrint compatibility with that equipment.
FAQs
Did the certification test use metallic ink?
The reported test used white and CMYK inks on metallic stock. The reflective substrate supplied the metallic appearance in this workflow.
Does the certification cover every UV printer?
No. Color-Logic describes a workflow for compatible UV inkjet printers. Buyers should confirm the supported printer, software configuration and intended substrate with their supplier.
