India Reports Record USD 863.1 Billion Exports in FY26

29 July 2026: India’s exports reached a record USD 863.1 billion in FY 2025-26, according to figures in the Department of Commerce brief. Merchandise exports were placed at USD 441.8 billion and services exports at USD 421.3 billion. The figures point to a near-even contribution from goods and services to India’s export earnings.

Trade Agreements Widen Product Reach

Indian exporters are making greater use of preferential tariffs under agreements signed or brought into force since 2021. It tracks this use through Certificates of Origin and partner-country trade data.

Under the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, 445,000 Certificates of Origin had reportedly been issued since the pact took effect on 1 May 2022. Indian exports to the UAE covered 8,053 eight-digit HS tariff lines in FY 2025-26, up from 7,546 in FY 2021-22. Shipments across those lines were valued at USD 37.3 billion.

Certificate of Origin issuance under the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement at 273,000 since implementation in December 2022. Export coverage reportedly rose by 272 tariff lines to 5,668 in FY 2025-26, representing USD 7.2 billion in exports.

Mauritius, Oman and EFTA Add Momentum

For Mauritius, the brief reported 1,956 Certificates of Origin under CECPA and an increase from 3,593 exported tariff lines in FY 2021-22 to 4,345 in FY 2025-26. The value across those lines was about USD 473 million.

It also said the India-Oman CEPA came into force on 1 June 2026 and had generated 783 Certificates of Origin. Exports were reported at USD 622.8 million in June, compared with USD 402.7 million in May.

Under the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement, 7,885 Certificates of Origin had reportedly been issued since October 2025. The government said EFTA’s tariff offer covered 92.2% of tariff lines and 99.6% of India’s exports.

Trade Data Tools Support Exporters

The Department of Commerce is also using Trade e-Connect and the Trade Intelligence and Analytics Portal to provide tariff, rules-of-origin, market and commodity data. These tools are intended to help exporters identify opportunities and make better use of preferential access.

The next test is whether wider product coverage produces sustained growth in labour-intensive industries such as textiles, apparel, leather, footwear, gems and jewellery, marine products, carpets, handicrafts and agriculture.
