Fujifilm Announces STARFIRE PhaseMaster Hot-Melt Printhead
01 October 2026: FUJIFILM Dimatix announced the STARFIRE PhaseMaster hot-melt inkjet printhead on September 23, 2026, in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Designed for high-speed scanning and single-pass industrial systems, it targets applications including packaging, screen printing and printed electronics. The company plans worldwide availability in early 2027.
According to Fujifilm’s official announcement, PhaseMaster combines technology from its Galaxy HotMelt and STARFIRE platforms for jetting phase-change solid inks. It can operate with or without ink recirculation.
STARFIRE PhaseMaster specifications
The company specifies 400 dpi resolution and drop sizes of 30-200 pL, depending on configuration. An integrated heater and temperature sensor support jetting conditions, while the printhead accommodates ink viscosities of 8-20 cP. Fujifilm identifies 10-14 cP as the range for maximum productivity.
PhaseMaster supports continuous operation at temperatures up to 125°C. Its VersaDrop technology provides binary and grayscale jetting, with an open, editable waveform utility.
Fujifilm reports multi-pulse jetting at up to 30 kHz, printing speeds exceeding 60 metres per minute and ink laydown of nearly 57 grams per square metre.
Applications in screen printing and electronics
The stated applications include full-colour and monochrome printing, wax-based and hot-melt inks, computer-to-screen systems, and single-pass coding and marking. For screen printers, the computer-to-screen compatibility is particularly relevant. Screen Print India’s coverage of Bludigit’s computer-to-screen systems provides context on this equipment segment.
Fujifilm also targets additive manufacturing and printed electronics, specifically etch-masking applications such as photovoltaic cells. That scope should not be read as a claim that PhaseMaster prints every component of a solar cell. Related coverage of LOPEC’s printed electronics applications describes the broader field, including indoor solar cells and sensors.
Recirculation, repairability and support
The design incorporates REDIJET Energy Dissipation technology and offers REDIJET Dual Recirculation. Fujifilm explicitly notes that customers can configure the printhead without recirculation.
Bulk PZT actuators remain insulated from direct contact with fluids. The company describes the printhead as repairable and says its worldwide field-support network offers training, including assistance with waveform development to optimise performance. The release does not specify repair costs or service intervals.
As with all FUJIFILM Dimatix products, the company’s worldwide field-support network is readily available and offers a variety of training and educational opportunities to help customers maximize the capabilities of their printheads, including a specialized program for developing waveforms that optimize performance. FUJIFILM Dimatix is currently working with select strategic partners to bring STARFIRE® PhaseMaster-based products to market.
