Cosmo Films launches antifog, oxo-biodegradable BOPP film for fresh-food packaging

25 July 2026: Cosmo Films has launched a co-extruded, biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film for fresh-food packaging. The film has heat-sealable, treated surfaces on both sides and is intended for applications where visibility, seal strength and fog control matter.

According to the company, the film uses oxo-biodegradable material technology and can biodegrade in about two to two-and-a-half years under suitable conditions. It is designed for fresh produce and other temperature-sensitive food applications.

One side of the film provides cold and hot antifog performance to reduce moisture-related fogging across different temperatures. The other side is intended for printing and ink adhesion. The film also offers machinability, optical clarity, high heat-seal and hot-tack strength, and a low seal-initiation temperature.

“Fresh-food packaging needs clarity, antifog performance, seal integrity and smooth running on packing lines,” said Kulbhushan Malik, Global Business Head, Cosmo Films. “This film brings those requirements together in one BOPP structure while adding oxo-biodegradable properties.”

The Transparent Antifog Bio-Degradable Film has been specifically developed for the packaging of fresh-cut vegetables, salads and meat, where visibility and effective antifog performance are critical to product presentation. Its optical clarity and processing characteristics also make it suitable for flower wrapping applications.
