RISO Launches ComColor GN Series with 180 ppm Flagship

23 October 2026: RISO KAGAKU CORPORATION announced the ComColor GN Series in a Tokyo-datelined release on 20 October 2026. The full-colour inkjet range targets invoices, manuals and enveloped mailings, with the flagship GN9830 rated at up to 180 pages per minute under specified conditions for high-volume document production.

ComColor GN Series: speeds and conditions

RISO’s published specifications list the GN9830 at 180 ppm and the GN7630 at 160 ppm for A4 long-edge-feed simplex printing. The launch release qualifies the flagship’s maximum speed as continuous printing at standard density using the Face Down Tray.

Paper and optional output equipment affect throughput. As with other high-speed inkjet press developments, buyers should test their own document mix rather than compare headline engine speeds alone.

The specification sheet distinguishes pages from sheets in duplex mode. On A4 long-edge-feed jobs, the GN9830 produces 90 double-sided sheets per minute, or 180 printed pages; the GN7630 produces 80 sheets, or 160 pages per minute.

RISO specifies a warm-up time of two minutes and 30 seconds or less at 23°C. Its first-print rating of five seconds or less applies to A4 long-edge-feed jobs within ten minutes of the previous print.

RISO also reports shorter startup, cleaning and sleep-recovery times. Optional high-speed scanning addresses the input side of copying and document workflows rather than increasing the print engine’s rated speed.

Heatless printing and media handling

The printers combine stationary, page-width printheads with oil-based pigment ink. RISO’s technology description explains that sheets pass continuously beneath the heads, while airflow control helps keep ink droplets on target for fine text and barcodes.

An adjustable head gap accommodates different paper thicknesses, including thicker envelopes. The five-colour ink set includes grey alongside cyan, magenta, yellow and black.

RISO’s paper-handling specifications give a standard-tray range of 46–210 gsm and a feed-tray range of 52–104 gsm. Its published speed test uses 85 gsm paper, so buyers should confirm performance on their intended stocks.

According to RISO’s print-quality and workflow information, the heatless process limits paper deformation and supports flat output for stacking and binding. The company also reports a new ink formulation for denser colour reproduction. Optional equipment supports sorting, stapling and booklet production.

Recycled resin and estimated energy savings

RISO’s environmental information states that the main unit incorporates 15% recycled resin. The touch panel displays estimated energy and CO2 savings against an ENERGY STAR 60 ppm reference, using differences in Typical Electricity Consumption, or TEC.

RISO calculates energy consumption per sheet from weekly TEC and weekly print volume under ENERGY STAR standards.

The displayed savings are estimates, not measurements of a customer’s actual emissions reduction. RISO says actual savings depend on the printer used for comparison.

Regional availability and purchasing checks

For procurement teams reviewing Xerox–Kyocera production inkjet plans alongside RISO’s range, comparisons should cover the document mix, finishing configuration and local service support. RISO says product names, specifications and launch dates vary by country or region; buyers should confirm details with local offices or distributors.
