Siegwerk Reports Third Straight Year of 100% Renewable Electricity
08 August 2026: Siegwerk said its global operations used 100% renewable electricity in 2025, extending full coverage for a third consecutive year. The printing inks and coatings manufacturer announced the result on August 4, 2026, as part of its updated HorizonNOW 2030 sustainability programme.
The company first reported reaching 100% global renewable electricity coverage in 2023. It said that coverage was maintained in 2024 and 2025 through a mix of on-site solar power, green electricity tariffs, renewable energy suppliers and unbundled energy attribute certificates.
Solar Power and Certificates Support Global Coverage
Siegwerk has installed solar systems at sites in India, Argentina, Mexico and Thailand. Its March 2025 sustainability report said the Bhiwadi site in India generated nearly 15% of its electricity on-site, while a second solar park outside the premises covered another 15%.
However, the 100% figure does not mean all electricity was generated at Siegwerk facilities. The company’s approach also includes market-based instruments such as energy attribute certificates. Siegwerk said it plans to expand on-site and off-site renewable generation where technically and economically feasible, while gradually reducing reliance on short-term market mechanisms.
New 2030 Emissions Target
Under HorizonNOW 2030, Siegwerk aims to cut its combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 60% by 2030 from a 2020 baseline. Scope 1 covers direct emissions from sources controlled by the company, while Scope 2 covers indirect emissions linked to purchased energy.
The company also intends to maintain 100% renewable electricity coverage each year. Other measures will include energy-efficiency projects, operational changes and employee-focused initiatives designed to lower energy use and carbon dioxide emissions.
Green Fund to Back Longer-Term Projects
Siegwerk has created a dedicated “green fund” for sustainability and emissions-reduction projects across its operations. According to the company, the additional budget can support investments with longer payback periods that might otherwise face funding hurdles.
Alina Marm, Siegwerk’s Head of Global Sustainability, said maintaining renewable electricity coverage for three years showed that the programme was not a one-off action. She added that further investment and work across the value chain would be needed.
