Sixth Konica Minolta Electric Vehicle to Support Delhi School Meals
30 July 2026: Konica Minolta Business Solutions India has added its sixth electric vehicle under its URJA corporate social responsibility programme. The latest Konica Minolta electric vehicle will support mid-day meal deliveries for 1,500 students in Delhi government schools.
The vehicle is being deployed through the company’s partnership with The Akshaya Patra Foundation. Konica Minolta links the project with two CSR programmes: NEEV, which supports children’s nutrition and URJA, which brings electric mobility into meal distribution.
The latest deployment extends a three-year initiative that has now supported six electric vehicles. The Delhi vehicle will be used in Akshaya Patra’s school meal operations, helping move prepared meals from its kitchen network to government schools.
Linking nutrition with cleaner transport
The Akshaya Patra Foundation implements the Government of India’s PM POSHAN initiative, formerly known as the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. The independent charitable trust says it currently serves more than 2.35 million children in 25,768 government schools and Anganwadi centres across 78 locations in India.
School meal programmes are intended to address classroom hunger while supporting children’s education. Electric delivery vehicles add a cleaner transport option to this work by avoiding direct tailpipe emissions on the routes they serve.
However, the public announcement does not provide route distances, energy-use figures or measured emissions savings for the new Delhi vehicle. Its environmental impact therefore cannot yet be quantified.
Combining two CSR goals
The project connects two separate CSR goals within one operating programme. NEEV focuses on children’s nutrition, while URJA supports the use of electric vehicles for meal distribution.
Konica Minolta Managing Director Katsuhisa Asari said the programmes reflect the company’s effort to create value for society while promoting cleaner ways of serving communities.
For the Delhi initiative, the clearest confirmed measure is its intended reach: 1,500 students in government schools. The next useful indicators will be operating data covering delivery routes, vehicle utilisation and emissions avoided over time.
