UVJC Launches NovaJet Printing System for Dry Deposition

15 October 2026: Universal Vapor Jet Corporation (UVJC) announced the NovaJet printing system in a release, alongside its debut in Shenzhen, China. The commercial platform uses dry, solvent-free deposition to help researchers evaluate functional materials and develop processes before moving towards manufacturing.

UVJC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Universal Display Corporation, says NovaJet is available to order and ready for deployment at customer sites. Developed and built in Singapore, it is the first commercial system based on UVJC’s proprietary Universal Vapor Jet Printing (UVJP) platform.

How does the NovaJet printing system work?

UVJP transports evaporated material in a gas stream to a print engine, where a micro-machined jet array deposits patterns onto a substrate. UVJC’s technology overview describes small-molecule organic and metal-organic materials as the process inputs.

The company says NovaJet deposits functional materials onto silicon wafers, glass, polymers and metals without solvents, masks or conventional lithography in the deposition step. It also reports operation without substrate heating, plus support for multiple materials and graded compositions in a single process step.

UVJC says this supports work on delicate, non-planar and temperature-sensitive surfaces. The release does not specify operating-temperature limits for individual materials. For semiconductor applications, readers can compare this approach with semiconductor inkjet technology. The distinction matters: inkjet places liquid droplets, while UVJP transports material in vapour form.

Which applications is UVJC targeting?

UVJC identifies several potential uses for precise, digitally patterned deposition:

  • Semiconductor advanced packaging.
  • Perovskites and solar technologies.
  • Biomedical and pharmaceutical applications.
  • Surface-energy modification, sensors and monitoring systems.

These are application areas identified by the manufacturer, not proof of qualified commercial devices in every field. Screen Print India’s coverage of perovskite solar-cell manufacturing provides context on another printing-based production route, using inkjet equipment rather than vapour deposition.

What does commercial availability mean for manufacturers?

NovaJet’s immediate role is materials evaluation and process qualification. The practical question is whether a material and deposition process meet the intended application’s requirements.

After customers validate a process, UVJC says it can support production transfer through application-specific process knowledge and intellectual property. Depending on requirements, future implementations could include customised, automated, integrated, roll-to-roll or large-area systems.

Applications Across Advanced Industries

NovaJet is suited for applications where precise, solvent-free and digitally patterned deposition can offer meaningful advantages in materials development and advanced manufacturing. These include semiconductor advanced packaging, perovskites and solar technologies, biomedical and pharmaceutical applications, surface-energy modification, and sensors and monitoring systems.

The platform operates without substrate heating, making it suitable for delicate, non-planar and temperature-sensitive surfaces. It can also support multiple materials and graded compositions within a single process step, enabling the exploration of complex material systems and device architectures across a broad range of industries. By providing a pathway from early-stage research through process qualification and manufacturing scale-up, NovaJet is designed to help accelerate the translation of advanced materials innovation into commercial technologies.

Where can visitors see NovaJet samples?

UVJC’s WESEMiBAY participation announcement lists Booth 8G03 in Shenzhen for 14-16 October 2026. Its display comprises coated substrates and printed samples produced on the company’s Singapore system, alongside a scale model of NovaJet, rather than a stated live demonstration of a full-size machine.

Following its debut at WESEMiBAY, UVJC plans to showcase NovaJet at industry and technical events worldwide, including the 2026 MRS Fall Meeting & Exhibit in Boston, Massachusetts, which runs from 1 to 4 December.
