Parksons and Kongsberg Mark 25-Year Digital Cutting Partnership

28 October 2026: Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems (PCS) and Parksons Packaging are marking 25 years of digital cutting collaboration in India in 2026. The relationship began with a Kongsberg table in 2001 and now spans eight locations, supporting packaging development and sample production, according to Kongsberg PCS.

In its anniversary announcement, Kongsberg says Parksons subsequently invested in seven further tables. That brings the reported total to eight, including the original installation. The eight locations refer to the cutting-table deployment, not the packaging company’s entire manufacturing footprint.

How the digital cutting partnership supports development

The companies link the relationship to packaging development and sample-making, where teams turn packaging concepts into physical samples. Similar work forms part of the training application described in Screen Print India’s report on the Kongsberg X20 at IIP, which covers structural design validation and prototype production.

Parksons’ official company history confirms that Ramesh Kejriwal founded the business in 1996 and remains chairman. Its operations began in Daman, with printed packaging becoming the company’s focus.

Parksons’ published timeline records an expansion of its Daman plant in 2001, the same year the cutting relationship began. It later began developing gable-top carton manufacturing capabilities at Chakan in 2013 and introduced digital printing at Daman in 2019. These milestones describe the packaging business’s development; they do not provide installation dates for the seven later cutting tables.

The anniversary release describes Parksons’ portfolio as folding cartons, specialised board packaging for liquid packs and customised rigid boxes. Its customer markets include fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, and healthcare. These applications give the partnership a broader remit than producing a single carton format.

Sample production and local technical support

Kongsberg says its equipment, service and technical expertise have helped Parksons improve productivity, respond to changing customer requirements and bring packaging concepts to market faster. The announcement gives no quantified productivity gains or reductions in sample turnaround time, so these remain company-reported benefits rather than measured performance results.

Recalling the initial purchase, Kejriwal said “Our vision in 2001 was clear: to build India’s finest folding carton printing and packaging company, supported by world-class technology and infrastructure.” He also credited Kongsberg’s reliability and the relationship built over the years.

David Preskett, Kongsberg PCS Vice President for EMEA and APAC, said local service, technical expertise and close collaboration had contributed to the partnership’s longevity. Kongsberg representatives also presented Parksons with a commemorative souvenir. The release does not specify the presentation’s date or venue.

Digital finishing beyond the anniversary

Other Indian installations illustrate the wider finishing needs behind such purchases. In Screen Print India’s earlier report on the Kongsberg X24 Edge installation at VGA Digital Printers, Pune, the customer described outsourced finishing as a production bottleneck and said bringing the process in-house improved turnaround.

Kongsberg’s separate 200th Indian installation announcement also traced its local installed base back to Parksons’ 2001 table. That announcement concerned an X20 order from Any Graphics, announced at IndiaCorr Expo, a trade platform for corrugated packaging and folding cartons. These are separate installation histories, not additional equipment purchases announced by Parksons as part of the anniversary.
